I need your help in choosing the right club...

Club A or Club B???

Hey everyone 👋

As club season conversations start picking up, I want to share an important perspective that I think every player and parent should consider before committing to a club program.

Not all clubs are created equal — and the difference isn’t always obvious on the surface.

🏆 Choosing a Club: What Are You Really Paying For?

When families compare clubs, the first thing they usually look at is price. But the more important question is:

👉 What kind of daily environment is your athlete stepping into?

Here’s a simple comparison I often walk families through:

CLUB A 🏆 (Development-Driven Program)

1️⃣ Price: $4,000 (3 months)
2️⃣ Practice: 5 days/week (1–2x per day)
3️⃣ Strength: 3 days/week of lifting 💪
4️⃣ Nutrition: Education + recovery guidance 🍎😴
5️⃣ Film: Weekly film sessions to grow lacrosse IQ 🎥🧠
6️⃣ Tournaments: 3–5 tournaments 🗓️
7️⃣ Scrimmages: Weekly scrimmages vs teams + practice players 🔥
8️⃣ Skill Development: Separate sessions for skills and tactics 🎯
9️⃣ Mentorship: Clear mission, standards, and accountability 🧭
🔟 Recruitment Guidance: In-depth support for players & parents 📩🎓
1️⃣1️⃣ Team Nights: Intentional events to build culture & trust 🤝

This model treats development as a daily process, not something squeezed in between weekends.

CLUB B (Tournament-Focused Program)

1️⃣ Price: $3,000 (2.5 months)
2️⃣ Practice: 1–2 days/week 🥍
3️⃣ Strength: No lifting ❌💪
4️⃣ Nutrition: No education or guidance ❌🍎
5️⃣ Film: No film sessions ❌🎥
6️⃣ Tournaments: 3–5 tournaments 🗓️
7️⃣ Scrimmages: No scrimmaging opportunities ❌🔥
8️⃣ Skill Development: Skills + tactics squeezed into one practice ⏳
9️⃣ Mentorship: No clear mission or development vision ❌🧭
🔟 Recruitment Guidance: Minimal to none ❌📩
1️⃣1️⃣ Team Nights: Occasional team events 🤷‍♂️

This model relies heavily on games to do the developing — which is risky if players aren’t getting enough reps during the week.

🧠 The Bigger Picture

Both clubs may attend the same tournaments, but the daily habits, support system, and growth trajectory of the athletes are very different.

When players struggle with:
• Confidence
• Conditioning
• Decision-making
• Consistency

It’s usually not a talent issue — it’s an environment issue.
