Steph Curry is one of the best, if not the best shooters of all time. If you ever get the chance to watch him play, it's amazing. If you get the chance to watch him warmup, you'll learn a lot. 

Steph has three training partners to help him get ready for the game

During Shoot-around, Steph works on a number of things

  • Dribbling

  • Shooting 

  • Catching and shooting 

  • And so on

This is his time to not work on new skills, but refresh his skill set by repping it out and building confidence before the game. 

It's simple, why wait until game time to take your first shot, when all you have to do is get to the field first to get reps up separate from the team. This is your time to work on you. 

Now to take this to ultra levels of Shoot-around heaven, grab a couple of people who may not be players to assist you in the training, e.g. 

  • Someone who feeds

  • Someone who plays dummy defense

Having a couple training partners to get you the ball without having to shag yourself and becoming an obstacle on the defensive end can sure help get what I call “ The IN-GAME feel” before a game. 

Think of what an advantage you would have over your opponent if you got to the field early and before the game started, already took 200 hundred shots and worked on your dodges from the spots on the field you like. 

For those that already do this, keep going. But for those that have not thought about this; it may be something you may want to add to your bag of tricks.

Speaking of a shoot around…

One of the best things you can do right before the big game is get a shoot-around in!

You may be asking, what is a shoot around? Well, its simply the idea of getting shots up or for the sport of lacrosse, its getting reps in for whatever position you play (e.g. draw, face-off, goalie, defense, shooting, etc) 

So right before the biggest lacrosse tournament of the year, I will be offering a offensive shoot around for guys and girls in California or coming to California.

During the shoot-around, players will get the opportunity to build confidence by repping out the following in gamelike situations

  • Dodging 

  • Shooting off the run

  • Shooting off the feed

  • Feeding 

  • Give and Gos 

  • Weaves 

  • Pick and Rolls

  • Pick and Slips 

  • and more!!!

We will also be bringing in additional training personal to play "dummy" defense to give that extra game feel
