Winter Break Rust, Upcoming Camps, This Week’s Training + New Podcast

Hey Prime family 👋

As we head into early January, I want to share a few important thoughts, opportunities, and the training schedule for the week. This is a critical stretch for player development, especially with tournaments coming up fast.

❄️ Winter Break Reality Check: Why Players Feel Rusty in January

First — it’s the holidays. Family time, travel, rest, and a mental break are all important and healthy. No one is saying players need to grind all break long.

That said… if you don’t want to feel really rusty when tournaments hit in early January, some minimal training matters.

Here are 5 common reasons players aren’t ready after winter break — and the simple fixes:

  1. Stick in the garage for two weeks
➡️ Solution: 10–20 minutes a day of wall ball or shooting keeps touch and confidence.

  2. No movement or footwork work
➡️ Solution: Short footwork, agility, or dodge reps to stay balanced and explosive.

  3. Zero game-speed reps
➡️ Solution: Small-sided games (3v3) to get reads, timing, and reactions back.

  4. Spacing and timing feel off
➡️ Solution: Live reps with other players before tournaments start.

  5. Hesitation and lack of confidence
➡️ Solution: Competing again — even lightly — rebuilds rhythm fast.

You don’t need to do everything over break — but doing nothing usually shows up quickly in January.

🏕️ Upcoming Camps (Limited Spots)

🔥 Prime Crease Attack Camp

This camp is built for players who want to be dangerous from X and around the crease. We’ll focus on:

  • Footwork and dodging from X

  • Shooting pockets while attacking the middle

  • Reading slides and defenders

  • Playing with purpose in tight space

Perfect for players looking to make an impact early in the season.

🌱 Prime Girls 2-Day Rookie Camp

This camp is designed for newer players or those still building confidence in the game. We’ll cover:

  • Field markings and rules

  • Basic positioning (attack, mid, defense)

  • Spacing, movement, and decision-making

  • Understanding how the game actually works

A great foundation heading into the season.
